Rebecca Roberts, John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County

Rebecca Roberts, MD, is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Research Director in the department of emergency medicine at the Stroger Hospitals of Cook Country, formerly called Cook County Hospital, one of the nation?s largest healthcare systems. Dr Roberts is on the faculty of the department of emergency medicine/ Rush Medical College, Chicago. She has over 25 years experience in clinical and public health practice. In the last decade she has played leadership roles in the development and implementation of the electronic disease surveillance and disaster preparedness systems in Cook County, Illinois. She worked with colleagues from Stroger and the Chicago Department of Public Health to develop and evaluate algorithms for Influenza-Like-Illness surveillance and West Nile Virus surveillance. The ILI programs were useful during the recent 2009 H1N1 pandemic and detecting the emergence of West Nile Virus infections in 2000-2002. Dr. Roberts is widely published in such reputable journals as the Journal of American Medical Association, Archives of Internal Medicine, and Annals of Emergency Medicine.
