Abstract

We proudly re-publish Neil Hardy's original 1979 JBC article "The Development of a Book: Childhood Injury." This article appeared in JBC Volume 6, Number 1. Because of the numerous medical illustrations contained within the article, at that time this content was placed in the JBC 6-1 Gallery section.

We think that you will enjoy Neil's editorial wisdom, his insightful business skill, his humor, and his illustration excellence. The Editor's Note at the end of Neil's article describes how Neil often placed his children's initials within the line work of his illustrations, as if to challenge the viewer (and his children) to find them.
