Author Biography

Anna Kompanowska

Anna Kompanowska completed Romance studies and holds a Ph.D. in linguistics. She is the head of publishing of the Contemporary Art Center in Torun. For nearly 20 years, she has been included in publishing activities as a translator, editor, author, and proofreader. She also teaches editing, rhetoric, and language culture at the Nicholas Copernicus University (NCU) in Torun, and provides workshops at the NCU Foundation Amicus. Her research includes contemporary language in public communication (language picture of the world, political and and artistic discourse, persuasion, and rhetoric). She has published many articles in the field of public discourse. She obtained a scholarship from the French Government and the Swiss Government, and has participated in many conferences and internships, among others at the Université Paris-Est Creteil Le Céditec and the linguistic laboratory in Paris. For several years, she has organised and conducted meetings with authors to promote fine literature, and workshops aimed at activating and developing creativity. She is also active in the organisation of festivals and exhibitions. Examples include an exhibition of Wislawa Szymborska collages and Mark Glowacki bookplates. She is interested in literature, where she is constantly discovering something new. She loves warm, small islands, discovering with pleasure their inhabitants, kitchens, and culture.
