Author Biography

Julius Kanarskas

Julius Kanarskas was born in 1960 (Jonava). He is an historian, archaeologist, museologist and head of the History Department at the Kretinga Museum. In 2006 and 2010, he was awarded a Culture and Art Prize by the Kretinga District Municipality. In 2009, he was awarded the title of Museologist of the Year of Lithuania. His published works include: Places to Visit in Kretinga District (1988), Historical and Cultural Monuments of Kretinga city (1988), Cultural Heritage of Salantai Regional Park (2008), Landlords of Kretinga Manor (2009). The author of the monograph Shedding light on the History of Kretinga (2009) and of several hundred scientific and popular articles. His main areas of scientific research include the prehistory of the Maritime Region, the historical development of Kretinga from the 13th century to the middle of the 20th century, and its impact on social economic life in the region.
