Antonella Fresa, Promoter, Pisa, Italy

Antonella Fresa is an ICT expert who has worked on European cooperation projects for more than 15 years. Co-founder and Director at Promoter snc, she has a Laurea cum laude in Computer Science. She is the holder of two patents, for a Video Overlay Device (1988) and an Ergonomic Video Controller (1990). She is a speaker at international conferences and meetings, and an expert acting as evaluator and reviewer for the European Commission in the frame of the FP3, FP4, FP5, FP6, FP7, ISPO, Media, eTEN, and CRAFT programmes. Since June 2010 she has been a member of the Concertation Table of the Italian Ministries of Culture and Research for the implementation of the Joint Programming Initiative on cultural heritage. Since September 2002 she has been an advisor of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities: She has been Technical Coordinator of the DC-NET ERA-NET and INDICATE support actions to demonstrate e-Infrastructure for cultural heritage in the Mediterranean countries; a peer reviewer of the ATHENA Best Practice network for Europeana; Technical Coordinator of MICHAEL / MICHAEL Plus for deployment of a pan-European service for the access to digital cultural collections; Technical Coordinator of MINERVA / MINERVA Plus / MINERVA-EC ministerial network for harmonisation of digitisation of cultural heritage in Europe; and WP leader within the IMAGINATION project for semantic search of visual data repositories. She has been a technical advisor of the Head Office of the State Archives of Poland, NDAP (2005-2007), University of Pisa (2005-2007), Electronic Commerce Competence Centre in Vienna, EC3 (2004-2006), ITC-IRST Research Centre in Trento (2002-2003), and the European Space Agency (2002). She was a project Officer at the European Commission in Brussels, DG INFSO from 1999 to 2002. From 1994 to 1999 she was a free lance consultant and project manager for major Italian private and public organisations, in the area of multimedia, e-learning and technological innovation (Regione Toscana, Mediateca Regionale Toscana, Sede Regionale RAI Toscana, Consorzio Pisa Ricerche, RCS-New Media, Corriere della Sera, Intecs Sistemi, Piaggio, Unione Industriale Pisana, CESVIT, University of Pisa, University of Florence, etc.). From 1989 to 1994 she was OEM Strategy and Multimedia Manager at Tower Tech, an engineering company in Pisa, Italy. From 1985 to 1989 she was Video Controller Development Manager at Olivetti Advanced Technology Centre, Cupertino, CA. From 1980 to 1985 she was a BIOS Development Engineer at Olivetti Research Centre in Pisa.
