The White House has been one of the leading government agencies in the United States in using the Internet to publish and distribute information. Staff of the White House have been particularly quick in using new technologies to make different kinds of files available, including audio. For a small portion of this year, an archive of White House speeches and its index disappeared. The files were restored, but their temporary loss raises some important questions over the maintenance of Internet information by governmental agencies.Published
